  • The Application Process

    Applying to University Academy

    The first step in applying to U.A. is to submit your online application during the application window - subject to change, but typically held from November to March. By applying to our school prior to each year's deadline, your student is included in the annual lottery drawing. Through this lottery, students are randomly selected for enrollment at University Academy. Once vacancies are filled, students are placed on a numbered waiting list. Students not selected for enrollment must reapply each year to be part of the lottery selection process.

  • Newly Enrolled

    • # of days to accept offer to enroll: 3 calendar days
    • # of days to complete registration: 5 calendar days

  • Wait List

    If you were notified that your student is on the wait list, you will not receive further communication from University Academy unless your student is selected for enrollment. Please note that applications that are received at any time throughout the open application season, will be added to the established wait list in accordance with the priority they receive. This could affect the number your student has on the wait list.

  • Pre-K

    University Academy offers off-site Pre-K at Each One Teach One Learning Center at 7209 Prospect Ave, KCMO 64132 where both students and their families receive the support needed to ensure readiness for Kindergarten. 
    To enroll, families must qualify for free and reduced meals.

    University Academy and Missouri Charter law require that students reside within the geographical boundaries of the Kansas City Missouri School District. To uphold this law, proof of residency may be requested to verify residency for existing students under the following circumstances:

School Tours

If you are interested in setting up a shadow date for your child who is entering 9th grade, please contact Susie Jackson in the Upper School at jacksons@universityacademy.org.

Please note that tours are not offered during the lottery/registration period of January - April 15. Tours are also not offered during the start of the school year from July 1-September 15. If you have questions, please contact kivettc@universityacademy.org.

Notice of Priority Change to Lottery/Wait List

Previously, and in accordance with our former sponsor, alumni who had graduated from University Academy were granted priority pool 1 status for their children who were applying to University Academy. Under direction of our current sponsor and Missouri State Charter Law, this priority is no longer granted. We regret to inform of such news, however we are dedicated to remaining in compliance with our current sponsor as well as state law.
