Mr. Burdette's University Academy Website
Hello and welcome to Mr. Burdette's page. I currently teach Junior Seminar, Senior Seminar and AP Statistics. I'm in my tenth year of teaching Math at University Academy after having worked at UMKC and Middle Tennessee State University with College Freshman.
The seminar courses are intended to prepare juniors and seniors for the challenges that lie ahead in their first year of college. Each seminar course covers myriad topics ranging from the basics of college choice and admissions to career development to a final senior thesis paper. Please visit the links on the seminar and college search specific websites.
AP Physics 1 is the study of static and dynamic systems with a strong emphasis on kinematics. As well, we introduce electricity, circuits and basic waveforms. The intention of the course is for students to be prepared for and take the Advanced Placement Physics 1 exam in May. While this is a senior level and challenging course, it's a wonderful introduction to collegiate level science as well as inquiry-based lab procedures. It's also the only course offered in the Upper School where we build things, drop things and watch things spin.
