Reminder of the After-School Rehearsal and Performance Attendance Policy

Students who have jobs after school MUST arrange to get off work for performances. It is the student’s responsibility to contact his or her work supervisor or manager. When informed in advance, employers will allow a student time off for a graded school activity. For all after-school event absences, students and parents must observe the following procedure. Failure to follow this procedure will result in a Performance No-Show (see below).

For pre-arranged absences:

  1. The teacher must be notified at least 2 weeks before the concert via e-mail, phone call, or conference, by a parent or guardian.
  2. In addition, an Absentee Request Form must be printed from the choir website, filled out, and submitted to the teacher at least 2 weeks before the performance.

For illness or emergency:

  1. If an emergency or sudden illness arises the day of a concert, the teacher must be contacted by a parent the next day with the reason.
  2. If a student is absent from school the day of a performance, the teacher must be called or emailed to be informed of the reason for the student’s absence.

If the above policies are followed, than the student is eligible for a Make-Up Performance Opportunity.

This is the only way a student is able to make up the points they could have earned if they had been at the performance. Students will be expected to perform a full run-through of the concert (in the theater or classroom, depending on theater availability) for the teacher. It will be the responsibility of the student to follow-up with the teacher and set up a time after-school for the make-up performance before the end of the semester.

Performance No-Shows

If the above policies are not followed, and the student does not attend a performance, then the student will receive a zero for their performance grade.
