Our Mission Statement

University Academy's mission is to prepare students to succeed in aninstitution of higher education and to participate as leaders in society. 


Middle School Parents -

I hope you have had some time to relax and enjoy this crazy spring break.  I know you are receiving multiple emails in regards to upcoming events, but please make time to read through this email when possible!

Our hope is that we can get students started with an effective on-line learning system to make sure we are hitting our Power Standards within our curriculum.  If you haven’t heard, State Assessments have been canceled, but that doesn’t absolve us from the responsibilities we have to help students learn and grow.  We need your help and support to make this happen!  While we are launching Online Learning Monday, March 23rd, we understand that this will be a fluid process that requires constant feedback and adjustment by all parties involved.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions and concerns as our staff have been working hard over their Spring Break to develop and implement on-line lessons that will be easily accessed by students and provide a solid learning foundation as we navigate through the unknown time frame that school will be implemented without face-to-face instruction.

Here are some items I want you to be aware of that we will be focusing on during this first week and beyond:

·         Teachers will have their websites updated and their calendars will reflect upcoming assignments so that you/students can easily view what is assigned and when items are due.

·         Teachers will also use a secondary or back-up method to communicate with students regarding specific assignments.  That may happen through Class Dojo, Google Classroom, Remind or direct email to name a few.

·         STUDENT EMAIL accounts will be activated so they can communicate directly with their teacher.  These emails will be limited to communication with uacademy.org and universityacademy.org addresses.  Teachers will possibly use these emails to reach out directly to students and also for access to Google Hangouts and Google Classroom activities.  These emails are monitored by the UA Tech department so emphasize to your student to stay focused and use the technology appropriately!

·         Teachers will be asked to respond to any emails within a 24 hour time frame to make sure we are helping meet student needs.

·         Each Monday, Mrs. Amerison will run the ‘U List’ and ‘1 List’ and reach out to parents to make them aware of their student making these lists.  Students/Parents are asked to check Powerschool each Monday to see what assignments their child may be missing.

·         This first week, please have students completing and turning in some assignments by Wednesday, March 25th so we can tell what is working or not working!

·         Ms. Slater will be reaching out to students via email once a week to see how she can support them during this transition time.

·         Communication and flexibility is the key- remember, our goal is to provide a solid learning opportunity for your child while we are focused on the online learning process. Please reach out with questions and we will work to resolve them as effectively as we can.  This is a new venture for us all, so let’s make it work through teamwork.

Look forward to assignments starting Monday and encourage your child to devote some specific time to working on school work each day!
