Class Dojo--Classroom Behavior Expectations

Across the Third Grade we will be using Class DoJo to track and communicate behavior.

Class DOJO is an online tool to track student behavior – both positive and negative. Families and students can access student reports and receive real-time updates through the DOJO website – www.classdojo.com – or by downloading the app to your phone or tablet. This will provide an additional communication tool with families and across subjects.   Class Dojo is the easiest way to reach 3rd grade teachers! Messages sent through Class Dojo appear in the form of text messages. We are able to access your messages from our phone during our plan time and other times when we are not supervising students. If a student is sent to a buddy room, or to the office, the teacher who sent the student will contact you via Class Dojo to explain why.

  • Students will have the opportunity to earn positive points both by consistently meeting expectations and going above and beyond.

  • Students will receive negative points for failing to meet school and classroom expectations.

In addition to Class Dojo we will be having a proactive behavior level system where students may earn privileges throughout the year. In order to be a successful Third Grader students will need to: Keep hands and feet to yourself, participate appropriately during instruction and treat others how you want to be treated.

In the spirit of the Winter Olympics each student will begin as a bronze medalist. Students will have the opportunity to move up levels and earn more privileges. At the end of each week we will look at and record each student's percent of positive behavior.

  • 90 % and above on class dojo for the week is green.

  • 80 % and above on class dojo for the week yellow.

  • 70 % and above on class dojo for the week is orange

  • 69 % and below on class dojo for the week is red

If students earn 4 weeks of consistent behavior at level green they will be able to move up to the next level (Silver or Gold)

If students fail to meet expectations and earn 2 weeks of consistent behavior at level red they will move to Level 1 and their privileges will be reset

If students have ISS or OSS students will move Level 1 and their privileges will be reset

Below are few examples of incentives or privileges that can be earned at each level.

  • Level 1:  Basic Students in class: structured recess, silent lunch and independent work

  • Level 2: (Bronze) Where everyone will begin.

  • Level 3: (Silver): Student jobs and line leader

  • Level 4 (Gold): Able to visit another teacher for Fun Friday and play at park for recess

***Please read the section for Discipline and Behavior in the Parent-Student Handbook.    University Academy has created a Resource Room for students.  The handbook outlines the offenses and the steps involved for a child to go to the resource room.  This is a policy set by University Academy as a whole and not by individual teachers.
