Ms. Bideau

Hello! My name is Ms. Emma Hayes Bideau and this is my third year teaching Kindergarten at University Academy. I received my first degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences from the University of Kansas. After graduation from the University of Kansas, I worked in truancy, foster care, and as early childhood case management for the Lawrence Housing Authority.  I earned my second degree in Elementary Education from Ottawa University in May 2014. Since graduating with my teaching degree I worked as the assistant director of education and the pre k teacher at The Goddard School of Overland Park. I live with my husband Heath and my dog Henry! I am excited to get to know you and your children throughout this school year!

Classroom Expectations:

Our Classroom Rules:
1. Follow directions quickly
2. Raise your hand to speak
3. Listen when someone is speaking
4. Always be a caring friend
5. Always do your best work

Homework is due every Friday. I will put a new packet in your child's bee book each Friday which is due the following Friday.

RED Folders:
Please make sure you are reading from the RED folder every night. Once your child reads the book to you, please write the title of the book on the recording sheet. I will check RED folders every Friday to count how many books your child read during the week. I will put new books in the red folder. The books that come home are yours to keep! Good readers read the same books over and over to help with sight words and reading fluency! I will give 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners prizes on Fridays to whomever has read the most books over the week!

Cube System:
I use the cube system as my behavior managment system. Each student will have their own stack of cubes at their table seat. Green cube= excellent, the student is meeting all expectations for the classroom. Yellow cube=good, the student has received three re-directions. Orange=Safe seat, the student had to sit in a safe seat away from the group. Blue=buddy room, the student had to go to a buddy room classroom. Red=Office, the student had to have a written office discipline referral and is sent to the lower school office. I will color on the calendar in the student's bee book what kind of day he/she has had. If you have any questions please call me or email me at bideaue@universityacademy.org.
