Students Awarded Blue Ribbons in Art Competition

Upper School Students Compete in KC High School Art Competition
Posted on 01/29/2016

University Academy Upper School teachers Ms. Hammond, Ms. Nurrenbern, Mr. Sheehan and their respective students joined forces recently to create art work for a Kansas City High School art competition.  The competition was sponsored by Pan-Am KC, the local affiliate of the Organization of American States, the OAS.  Students researched their assigned or chosen country and created art that visually explored the essence of the culture.  We had 22 finalist entries which were displayed at the downtown MyArts Gallery.  Five of our pieces were chosen as Blue Ribbon Winners!  These fabulous art pieces will be printed on vinyl banners, along with the artist's name and our school name, and displayed with the countries' flags along Grand Boulevard for a period of five years!  We are so proud of all of our entries, but especially proud of our Blue Ribbon Winners!

Congratulations Alexis Lee (Bahamas), Tateanna Gravely-Moss (2 winners - Cuba and Dominica), Kenath Mitchell (Dominica), and Giacomo Mourning (Guyana).
