University Academy Families,

This Tuesday, September 1st, we will be hosting a drive-thru distribution for textbooks, devices, supplies, etc.   We will open our lot up at Noon and close at 6pm.  We are attempting to do this in a convenient and safe manner, so that no one has to to exit the car and we can all maintain safe distancing.   Because we could have up to 600 cars during this period of time, we kindly ask everyone to move through the line efficiently.   If you have additional questions for staff, please email or call at a later time to have more in depth conversations.

WHAT:   UA Student Supplies and Devices Distribution

WHO:    All UA students and families.

WHERE:  University Academy parking lot (between the school and the football field)

WHEN:   Tuesday, Sept. 1st,  NOON - 6:00pm.  No appointment necessary.   Rain or shine

(If you cannot make it during this time, we will also be available on Wed, September 2nd from 8:00am - 10:00am in our parking lot.)

As you enter the parking lot, you will be asked if you need to borrow a device.  If so, you will proceed down the lane right in front of the main entrance doors where there will be personnel to assist you.  If you do not need a device, you will go directly into the school parking lot.

The first stop in the parking lot is the National School Lunch Program application.  Even if you don't qualify, we are responsible for collecting those forms, which drive not only our lunch program, but also the funding formula from State and Federal sources.  To save time, you can fill out the form online or print and bring a hard copy.   Staff will be able to verify online applications onsite.    Online Form  or  Paper Form

Pizza Incentive - Once you turn in your family's school lunch app, you will be given a Gift Certificate for a free pizza (one topping, medium) from Waldo's Pizza.

Grade Level Materials

Please stop at each grade level which you have a student attending for the 2020-21 school year.  Teachers and administrators will be on hand to pass out materials and books, if applicable.   For Lower School students who ordered school supplies through University Academy, those supplies will be passed out as well.

Middle and Upper Schools have one section for each school.

Yearbooks - if you purchased a yearbook last year, those copies will be available to pickup.

Last year's library and textbooks - if you have textbooks from last year you still need to return, there will be a place to return those books.

Additional Details

Devices

  • This year, we should be able to provide devices for each student.  K-1 students will be provided a tablet, while Grades 2-12 will use a Chromebook laptop.  If parents do not have internet, UA will work with the family to obtain a hotspot.  It should be noted that hotspots are not high-speed internet and do have limited monthly data.
  • However, if you already have a personal device for one or more of your students, we ask that you consider not checking out a UA device at this time.   While we are waiting for another shipment of computers, it would be possible we could run short if every student attempted to check out a UA device.  
  • If you checked out a laptop last spring or this summer, and would like to continue to use that particular device, you do not need to do anything.   That agreement form will just continue to be in place until further notice. 
  • If you checked out a laptop for summer school, and are now eligible to receive the incentive device for completing summer school, you will need to turn in the UA laptop at the time of receiving the new device.   The new laptops/tablets we ordered for the summer school completion incentive are due to arrive in mid-September.  We apologize for the delay.  Suppliers are having a difficult time filling orders this summer.  Please continue to use the device you currently have until the new ones arrive. 
  • If you need a device for one or more of your students, we will be loaning out devices on Tuesday, September 1 at UA between Noon - 6:00pm.   You do not need an appointment.  Please bring your photo ID.    The devices will be distributed in a drive through line, as well as textbooks and materials that your student may need to pick up.

School Breakfast/Lunch Distribution in a Virtual Environment

University Academy participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs and offers meals free or at reduced prices for families whose income meets eligibility guidelines. Families must submit an application each school year (Meal applications are only valid for one (1) year). We are asking for families that pay for meals to please do so by using Schoolpay. Meal prices and Schoolpay can be found on the schools website.

University Academy Nutrition Department is dedicated to offering our students healthy school meals, even when our students are learning safely at home. Here is what you can expect for school meals.  Parents/Guardians do not need to bring the child(ren) to pick up meals at the school. However, you will need to verify student enrollment to pick up meals.

Distribution Details: School Meals will be available for Curbside Pickup at University Academy.

Day Of Meal Service: Every Tuesday starting September 15, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (until further notice)

University Academy utilizes a NO contact process for distributing meals. We are asking families to please stay in your cars and a staff member will place the meal box(s) in your car to take home.

What will the school meals look like:  Parents will be allowed to pick up ten (10) boxed meals per student (one box contains breakfast items/one box contains lunch items).

NOTE: Meals will consist of some cold items that will need refrigeration, as well as shelf stable items.

How to Order:  Please go to the school's website to place your Meal Box order.   The order tab will be live starting on September 3rd.  The first service date will be Tuesday, September 15th.
