Shark Tank

Hello everyone! I'm Ms. Amanda Adreani, and I teach vocal music and public speaking to the middle school and upper school students at University Academy.

I'm from northern Illinois, and all of my family (and my dog) still lives there. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and received my Master's from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Outside of school, I love to explore Kansas City. I attend concerts and cultural events as often as I can. I also volunteer at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, helping with the family programs, and I love to read and travel.

I'm passionate about the power of music and the self-expression it can allow, and I want all of my students to think critically about the music they are hearing. What is the musician's message? What other types of music or artists influenced the musician? What is the song trying to tell us about the human experience? How does this song (or how does it not) connect with you? How did this music genre develop over time? I also want my students to leave my choir classes with an understanding of professional performing, and a developed rehearsal work-ethic. Being able to consciously practice, prepare, and then perform is an invaluable process that can be applied to many aspects of life. The best part of my job is hands down watching my students perform. I love that they get to show audiences all that we have worked for. It makes me so proud. Be on the lookout for the date of our next choir concert, and come see our students perform!
