UA Students Perform at Shark Tank 2016
Posted on 10/26/2016

Ms. Adreani, University Academy choir teacher, led a group of her choir students in a performance at Teach For America's Shark Tank event at the Gem Theater yesterday. The event featured Teach for America teachers from the community pitching ideas to "sharks" in hopes of receiving funding to bring their ideas to life. The sharks were UA co-founder Shirley Helzberg, Danny O'Neill (founder of The Roasterie), Hailee Bland-Walsh (owner of City Gym), and Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (pictured). The UA choir students sang "Rise Up," by Andra Day to open the event.

At last year's Shark Tank event, Upper School math teacher Mr. Persley won funding to take students to a "hack-a-thon" in North Carolina.
