UA Parents,
According to the most recent numbers released by the Kansas City Health Department on March 31, 2021, the community transmission rate within KCMO for the past week is 33.4 per 100,000 and a positive test rate of 7.76%.  According to the CDC school reopening guidelines, this is considered a safe number to reopen schools for all age students, including Middle and Upper Schools. We will also use this opportunity to add more Lower School students who wish to switch to in-person instruction starting April 19.
On April 2nd, you will receive a NEW survey through SchoolMint giving you the opportunity to choose in-person instruction for your child(ren). The survey is due back by 11:59pm, April 5th.  The survey must be turned in by the deadline. We will not make any changes to instruction modes after the deadline. If you need assistance accessing your SchoolMint account, please contact Kellie Brady at 913-674-9851.
In-Person Options, beginning April 19
Elementary - If you did not previously choose in-person instruction for your elementary student(s), but wish to choose that option now, you can sign them up for in-person instruction. Elementary students are offered a full five-day week of in-person instruction. New students will be added April 19.
Middle and Upper - We will be offering a two-day in-person instruction model for Middle and Upper School students. Because children over 11 years old can catch and transmit COVID-19 at a higher rate than elementary students, it is important that we do our best to limit the number of secondary students on campus at any one point in time. We will offer a Tuesday/Thursday in-person track, and if need be, we will create a second Monday/Wednesday track to alleviate crowding.
For all K-12 in-person students, UA will continue to follow CDC guidance to the best of our capabilities including guidance on spacing, student capacity, masks and other mitigation strategies which may impact our schedules and limit the number of students we can add per grade level.  This includes seating students at least three feet apart during class times, facemasks, frequent hand washing and reduced bus rider capacity.
Virtual Options
For elementary students who wish to stay virtual, you don’t need to do anything additional.
For Middle and Upper students who wish to stay virtual, those students will receive live teaching on off-track days and asynchronous work/lessons during the days that other students are in-person.
All Middle and Upper students attending in person must continue to log-in to their live conferences on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
